ROWIE: Sewing Stories Into Timeless Design

For some, creativity is a spark. For Rowie Moore, owner and creative director of the namesake label ROWIE, it was stitched into life from the very beginning.

Rowie remembers being eight years old, sitting with scraps of fabric and a head full of ideas. In her world, new clothes weren’t something you bought on a whim—they were passed down, handmade, or thrifted. Each garment became a canvas for experimentation, and making clothes quickly became more than a hobby. It was identity, expression, freedom.

To wear a ROWIE piece is to step into a story. The brand’s collections capture the spirit of adventure, nostalgia, and the quiet beauty of nature. Silhouettes flow between softness and structure, balancing ease with refinement. Rowie draws inspiration from the world around her—coastal landscapes, flea markets, forest trails, and tucked-away laneways. Each season feels like a continuation of the last, woven together by earthy palettes and thoughtful details. The result is clothing that feels lived-in, personal, and timeless, leaving space for the wearer to make each piece their own.

Though ROWIE now reaches an audience far beyond its coastal origins, the brand has never lost its sense of place. Its design language remains a tribute to the environment and experiences that shaped it. For Rowie, growth is never about chasing trends or reinventing the wheel. It’s about thoughtful evolution. “Timeless design and authenticity remain at the heart of everything we do,” she says.

For over a decade, the Banksia Drive Precinct has been ROWIE’s creative home. Each studio space within the precinct has marked a chapter in the brand’s growth. Their current home at 18 Banksia, with its brutalist architecture and raw honesty, feels especially aligned with the brand’s ethos of minimalism and refinement. Nestled among a community of makers and thinkers, the studio is more than just a workspace—it’s a place that nurtures creativity and anchors ROWIE’s identity.

Looking ahead, ROWIE’s focus is clear: continue to evolve thoughtfully. The brand remains committed to sustainability, working with organic and low-impact textiles, producing in limited runs, and honouring craftsmanship.

But the future also holds new collaborations and creative projects—exciting ventures that will expand the ROWIE story without ever losing its essence. “Our journey has always been about evolving thoughtfully,” Rowie says with a smile. “The next chapter holds projects we can’t wait to share—watch this space.”

What keeps Rowie designing after all these years? Joy. Pure and simple. “I genuinely love what I do,” she reflects. From the first sketch to the final garment, the process still feels as thrilling as it did when she was a child. Fabrics and textures ignite ideas, and the thought of how a piece might transform the way someone feels keeps her inspired.
